The second and last leg of the 2002 edition of the Sata Rallye Azores, has witnessed for the first time in three years the victory claimed by a Portuguese driver. Ford Focus driver Rui Madeira and his co-driver Fernando Prata staked their name on the top step of the podium after being without a win for 15 months.
