FIS CONGRESS 2010, ANTALYA. Killian Albrecht (BUL) is the Chair of the Athletes Commission. This Congress saw the Commission meet for the second time after their election in 2009.

What is your resumé of your first year as Chairman?
It has been a great year of learning. We have really needed this time to learn how FIS works, how we can be involved, what the procedures are and how we best effect change. It feels like we were thrown into the water and had no chance but to learn to swim. Now we are at least already staying afloat. We have also realized that sports politics entails a lot of informal work and that it can take a long time to move things along the paths of decision-making at FIS.

What is the current atmosphere in the Commission?
7 of the 12 Commission members are here in Antalya. We have had good discussions this week and all members benefited from their work to establish relationships with the athletes and FIS Race Directors last season. Besides the discipline specific topics, we continue to focus on topics such as 3rd party arbitration, support for severely injured athletes & Committee representation.
