FIS CONGRESS. Antalya, 5th June, 2010 - Meeting at the 47th International Ski Congress in Antalya (TUR), the FIS Council made the following decisions on proposal of the Alpine Committee:

City Event in Munich Olympic Park as part of the World Cup

Bringing the Audi FIS Ski World Cup closer or even into big cities has long been a goal for FIS, with successful city events already having taken place in other disciplines, such as Cross-Country sprint races, Freestyle aerial and Snowboard big air competitions. After the successful World Cup events in Zagreb and the Promotional Events on the ramp in Moscow in 2009, the 2010/11 season will feature a city parallel event as part of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup.

The Munich Olympic Park (GER) will play host to this new event on 2nd January 2011. The detailed rules were approved for staging the competition that will only see the world's elite 16 ladies and 16 men based on the World Cup overall standing compete. Besides the FIS minimum FIS Alpine World Cup prize money prize money purse of CHF 100'000, the athletes will be competing for Audi FIS Ski World Cup overall points, however not for individual event rankings. (The awarding of points is on a one year trial basis).

Audi FIS Ski World Cup calendar 2010/11 confirmed

Final confirmation of the ladies' and men's calendars for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup season 2010/11 was made including some premieres. Traditionally, the opening weekend will take place in Sölden (AUT) but the upcoming season will also see it include a Nations' Team Event in the revised parallel format, specifically designed to promote the sport and provide a new highlight at the beginning of the season.

The rules for the Nations' Team Event were approved with some minor revisions to the rules trialed at the FIS World Cup 2010 Finals in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER). The main one being in case of a tie at the end of the heat, the lowest combined time of the best individual lady and man will win the heat.

Other minor calendar modifications for 2010/11

The ladies' Audi FIS Ski World Cup event in Courchevel (FRA) was rescheduled to Tuesday, 21st December. Flachau in Austria will host a night slalom event on 11th January.

The men's event in Zagreb (CRO) was rescheduled from 5th January to the European holiday of 6th January. The World Cup event in Chamonix (FRA) will be carried out on 29-30th January. The culmination to the season, the Audi FIS Ski World Cup finals will be carried out at Lenzerheide (SUI) for the third time, following highly successful events in 2007 and 2005 that attracted large crowds.

The full calendars are available as follows:

Additional rule changes

A maximum of 80 FIS points will be required to compete in a FIS World Cup downhill or super-G races from the 2011/2012 season, reduced from 120 FIS points.

A precision to the rules was defined so that at least two events must be carried out in order that the World Cup globe in the super combined rankings will be awarded.

On the basis of the recommendation of the Working Group for Alpine Technical Equipment, adjustments to the specifications for the gate panels to be used in the World Cup were made.
