Terms Starting with Letter: D
desquamation - a shedding of the superficial
epithelium, renal tubules, mucous membranes, and skin.
dialysis - A form of filtration to separate crystalloid
from colloid substances in a solution by interposing
a semipermeable membrane between the solution and water.
The crystalloid substances pass through the membrane
into the water on the other sides while the colloids
do not.
diastole - a period of relaxation and dialation
of a heart chamber during which it fills with blood.
distal - farther from the origin of a body part
or the point of attachment of a limb to the body trunk.
dykinesis - impairment od motor function or activity.
dyspnea - A shortness of breath, difficulty of
breathing. Usually occurs during intense physical exertion.
