02 Май 2003 - 21:33 European Championship - El Corte Ingles Campos wins and extends lead

Miguel Campos has won the second rally of the European Championship rally, the rally El Corte Ingles.  After winning the openingsrally of this Championship ( last week won Campos the Mille Miglia ) Campos took an outstanding start of the Championship.

Because there was only one week between Italy and Spain, most competitors prefered Mille Miglia because it was impossible to do both rally's.  Campos played it very smart and hired a Peugeot 206 WRC with Grifone and transported his own 206 to Spain.  It worked out excellent, Campos won both rallies and leads the Championship with the maximum of 400 points.

Bruno Thiry, who targets the Championship, is now under an enormous pressure for the next rally in Turkey.  The next rally is the Anatolia rally ( 16 - 18 May ) in Turkey.
