The Italian Baja, which was supposed to be the first round of the Rally Raid World Cup, is cancelled. The organisers were not able to have all the necessary authorisations to stage the event.

With this situation, the Tunisia Rally will be the first event on the World Cup calendar at the beginning of April. Most competitors were getting ready to go to Italy when they were informed that the race was cancelled.

Thierry Magnaldi was planning to go to the Italian Baja to test his car: "We had the car presentation on Wednesday at a local sponsor's headquarters and then we were supposed to test some suspension settings."
